Young Musicians Connect Tanzania and Scotland

2nd May 2024

Across continents and cultures, the universal language of music brought students from BISA and Hutchesons' Grammar School in Glasgow, Scotland, together for a virtual jam session!

Year 1, 2, and 3 students at BISA had the incredible opportunity to connect with their Scottish counterparts who had been exploring the vibrant sounds of Africa.

The fun began with the Hutchesons' students taking centre stage! They showcased their musical talents with two energetic performances: the catchy "Si Si Si" and a foot-stomping rendition of "Africa" by Toto, complete with drumming that would make any percussionist proud. Then, they shared a taste of Scotland's rich heritage with a traditional Scottish song.

The BISA students weren't to be outdone! They proudly belted out two beautiful songs in Swahili, sharing the warmth of Tanzanian culture across the miles.

But the magic wasn't just in the music. The video call provided a platform for these young learners to break down geographical barriers and connect on a personal level. They exchanged questions, eagerly soaking up information about each other's lives, school experiences, and even favorite hobbies.
