Extracurricular Life
Our wide range of extracurricular and sporting activities enables students to balance work and play. In addition, we offer a host of exciting trips, both local and overseas, to extend learning and prepare students for life at university.
Parents can join activities and events at school: Bonfire Night with spectacular fireworks and delicious BBQ; Colour Fest; graduations; Open Days showcasing a wide range of work and activities; school performances; cross-country races, and gala nights.

Sport
Highly qualified coaches, committed staff, and parent body members enable our students to excel in several sporting endeavours. Local and international fixtures are scheduled throughout the school calendar. We have strong links with our sister schools in Kenya and regularly use world-class facilities. Football and Basketball training is held three times a week and students get the opportunity to go to Dallas in July to train with the Dallas Hoopers. FIBA-registered ‘3×3 Friday Night Lights’ is also a very popular basketball event held three times a year.
Sport

Braeburn Arusha is renowned for its incredible success in the Creative Arts. Each year our students are accepted into top music and drama schools around the world after benefiting from our professional training. Each child learns a musical instrument from Year 4-8 and as a result, we have a number of bands, ensembles, choirs and orchestras. We present five productions each year, the largest of which is our Secondary School performance in Term 2. Two of the productions go on tour to Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, as well as doing a couple of home shows in our incredible amphitheatre. Students have the opportunity to learn new dance styles or train in the aerial arts. In addition to our main school performances, the school offers a range of music recitals, dance performances, arts evenings, exhibitions and class assemblies. We undertake an annual Creative Arts trip to London where students enjoy a range of West End and fringe performances. A variety of professionally-run workshops are also arranged in school.

Our Community
Our school is renowned for its family feel. We are committed to a global outlook whilst celebrating our East African setting. We have good relationships with our neighbouring schools and work together to solve period poverty, to care for our environment and to find sustainable solutions to plastic waste around us. We open up our school on Saturday mornings to our neighbouring children so that they can learn to swim and so that they can get help with their Mathematics and English. Our students run an NGO to raise funds for scholarships to assist promising students in our community to attend our school and university.
Within our school, we show respect for everyone wherever they are from and whatever their faith or their individual needs. Students are able to attend the mosque on Friday afternoon or church on Sunday; we celebrate Holi with our Colour Fest, and we have recently built a prayer room for all faiths. Students with complex needs are supported with a range of targeted programmes, and we divide our students in the boarding houses into ‘family groups’ who look after each other. We also run a buddy system for new families both in school and through the Parent Teacher Association.

Students can put their leadership skills into action by signing up for the EAMUN, Roots and Shoots, IMPACT, the Student Council, the prefect body or to lead an NGO. Students are able to apply to be project managers by creating a pitch to make a positive difference to some part of our school. Students are given a mentor and encouraged to review their soft skills and make plans to improve their areas of weakness.
