Going Back to Our Roots: Reintroducing Our Historic House System!

For the past ten years, our students have proudly worn the colours of Kili, Lengai, Mawenzi, and Meru. We have seen incredible sportsmanship, fierce battles, and beautiful moments of teamwork under this four-house system.

But as any great school community does, we are evolving – and with that evolution comes an exciting new chapter for our school spirit.

Why the Change?

Over the past decade, our school’s demographics have shifted. As our student body size has changed and families have moved on to new global adventures, we noticed that our four house teams were becoming unbalanced.

At the heart of our house system is the desire for fairness, inclusivity, and fun. When teams are unbalanced, it can take away from the thrill of the competition. We wanted to fix that and ensure every single student feels they have a fair shot at lifting the interhouse trophy!

Always valuing student voice, we recently held consultations with our Secondary and Upper Primary students. The consensus was clear: it was time for a refresh to balance the scales and reignite our competitive spark.

Going Back to Our Roots

Sometimes, the best way forward is to look at where you came from. To ensure perfectly balanced, fair, and fiercely fun competitions across the board, we are excited to announce that we are flipping back to our beloved three-house system from over a decade ago!

We are incredibly proud to reintroduce our historically rooted teams, named after three of our region’s most beautiful, resilient, and iconic indigenous trees:

💚 Baobab (Green) – Known for their towering strength and deep, unshakeable roots.

💛 Acacia (Yellow) – Known for their incredible adaptability and striking presence.

❤️ Ebony (Red) – Known for being solid, enduring, and beautiful.

This change perfectly aligns with one of our core school themes: Globally minded, locally rooted.

A New Era of Competition

The timing couldn’t be better. This week, we will officially launch this new chapter at our highly anticipated Interhouse Athletics competition.

We are expecting an atmosphere full of unparalleled energy, spectacular sportsmanship, and true community spirit as students unite under their new banners. We can’t wait to see our campus transform into a vibrant sea of Green, Yellow, and Red.
