Secondary

Our Secondary School curriculum for learners aged 11 to 18 years  is based on the English National Curriculum produced by the Department of Education (England). It is divided into Key Stages 3 (age 11 to 14 years), Key Stage 4 (age 14 to 16 years), and Key Stage 5 (age 17 to 18 years). The system is progressive, and each stage builds on the knowledge and skills taught previously.

To make an easy transition from their Primary career, most Year 7 students arrive at the beginning of the academic year having already experienced some ‘taster days’ in our Secondary School. Once settled, they benefit from a strong Library programme, in-class support, and a cross-curricular enrichment programme.

Our Learning Environment

Available for students on our campus are a number of specialised resources, such as Information Technology suites, specialist Science laboratories and preparation rooms, purpose-built specialist classrooms and studios, and a wetland learning zone. To support our extracurricular programmes, we have a covered amphitheatre, a Music suite with practice rooms, a floodlit hard court for basketball, netball and tennis, and a 25-metre swimming pool. Senior boarding houses provide a supportive environment, and promote a healthy, balanced lifestyle for all our students.

Academic Results

The academic achievements of the Braeburn International School Arusha Class of 2025 are a testament to their dedication and hard work, attaining a 100% pass rate.

Our IGCSE students excelled, with 90% of all grades being A*-C, with 38% of grades at A* or A. We are incredibly proud of these results and what they represent for our students’ futures.

Curriculum Overview

In our Secondary section, students build a strong core of knowledge and skills in Key Stage 3 before tailoring their education to their unique interests in Key Stage 4. Year 9 marks a pivotal milestone in this journey. For the first two terms of the year, students continue to follow their Key Stage 3 curriculum. In Term 2, we provide students with dedicated support and guidance to help them make their final subject choices for the internationally recognised IGCSE examinations. Once these choices are finalised, students begin studying their new Key Stage 4 syllabus in Term 3.
