A Breath of Fresh Air and Team Bonding After Mock Exams

24th January 2024

Mocks. Two tiresome weeks of living in the exam hall. By Friday all we wanted was to be out of there, and that is what happened. The purpose of the Year 11 Migombani trip was to relax after the mocks and clear our minds.

We set off right after lunch for the two-hour drive to Migombani camp in Mto Wa Mbu. The bus was radiating with excitement and enthusiasm because of the journey we had embarked on. We arrived late in the afternoon, and set up camp. Despite the difficulties faced when pitching our tents, we worked together and succeeded. To reward ourselves, we enjoyed the beautiful and relaxing pool. That night, we hibernated under the captivating night sky with the rain singing us to sleep.

The next day, we woke up ecstatic of the activities ahead. The first activity of the trip was an adventure to Tanzip’s zip-lines. Located at the foothills of the Great Rift Valley it displayed stunning views of the natural landscape that surrounded us. The activity started with us taking a short hike up the vegetation filled valley before descending with the zips while breathing in the scenery. We were able to forget about the stress filled mocks and distract our minds with this experience.

The trip was coming to an end, but despite that we still had time to create one more unforgettable memory. Our visit to the nearby waterfall was an experience like no other, and challenged us to work together. With the help and motivation of one another, and the incredible guides, we were able to overcome the rapid river and reach the dazzling waterfall. The incredible teamwork displayed, allowed us to tame the difficult challenges presented to us and brought us even closer together.

Overall, the trip was a success. We were able to recover from the mocks and bond in an alternative environment. It truly was an unforgettable experience!
