Exciting news! Our Year 6 students got a sneak peek of secondary school life, attending classes, meeting new teachers, and making friends with fellow students.
They explored history through the lens of the Titanic, dissected lungs in science while sporting lab coats, and engaged in fun-filled drama activities. To top it off, they learned to make French toast in a Flexible learning cooking class and experience art with an art specialist teacher to draw out their creativity. These experiences gave them a taste of the exciting things to come when they start secondary school. We can't wait to welcome them to our school and support their continued growth and development.
Meanwhile, Year 9 students recently had a fantastic opportunity to explore subjects they will encounter in their upcoming IGCSE courses, helping them make informed academic decisions.
Students explored Biology, Sociology, Physical Education, Food and Nutrition, and Business. In Biology, they explored real animal hearts, developing a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of the subject. Sociology sparked discussions on human society issues, encouraging critical thinking and empathy. Exploring fitness tests in Physical Education emphasised the importance of teamwork and mutual support. Food and Nutrition allowed students to get creative in the kitchen while learning about healthy eating habits. Finally, in BTEC Business, students learned about the practical application of business concepts, offering a glimpse into the world of entrepreneurship and business management.
Our school values a broad and balanced foundation for future studies and recognises the importance of students choosing options that interest and motivate them for academic success and future careers. We are confident that Year 9 students will make informed decisions as they move on to KS4 and look forward to supporting them as they explore their passions and interests.
