This past weekend, we had the privilege of hosting the highly anticipated Interschool Chess Tournament, organised by Xplo Board Games. The event brought together talented young minds from various schools, all eager to demonstrate their chess skills on a day filled with strategic moves and mental battles. The tournament's success would not have been possible without the kind support and use of our Hall, which set the perfect atmosphere for this exciting intellectual challenge.
We are particularly proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two of our own students, Love Newman and Ivy Zinyengere, who participated in the tournament, representing Braeburn with focus and determination. In a remarkable show of skill and composure, Love Newman triumphed in the highly competitive age 13-17 category, securing a well-deserved victory. His exceptional performance not only earned him the title but also serves as an inspiration for fellow students, encouraging more young minds to join the chess club and sharpen their critical thinking skills through the game of chess.
As part of the tournament’s prize offerings, Love Newman has already been awarded a customized board game of his choice, recognizing his remarkable achievement. Additionally, Braeburn has been invited to select a board game that best fits the school, a token of appreciation for hosting the event and celebrating Love's victory.
We extend our sincerest thanks to the entire organising team of Xplo Board Games for their collaboration and to everyone involved in making this event such a resounding success. Congratulations once again to Love Newman, and we look forward to watching the next generation of Braeburn chess players rise to new heights!
