20th March 2024
On 14th of March, 2024 Rangi Art Gallery opened its doors to its annual Women's Day Exhibition, among the talented artists exhibiting was our very own BISA Alumni and former BTEC Student of the Year, Josephine Kiaga. Josephine was a Creative Media Student when she was with us and after completing her Film Production Degree at the University of Salford, Manchester, she felt she should diversify her styles of work and art mediums. Josephine exhibited three pieces of digital collage that she says 'represents different parts of her psyche' and was personally approached by the founder of Rangi Galler, Lorna Mashiba, to congratulate her on her work. She attended a workshop and artist Q&A, where she got to network, make connections and seek to collaborate with her fellow local artists. We hope our BISA students are inspired to continue to strive for new heights in their artistic fields and diversify their portfolios.
She had this to say about her experience: "It was very rewarding, humbling and exciting to have my work featured and sold at one of my favourite Art Galleries. There was a bid on one of my pieces between five people, it was such a pleasure to participate. Tanzania has so many opportunities to diversify your artist portfolio and I hope this can help people recognise that. "
