Ten young and enthusiastic athletes from our school travelled to Nairobi on September 27th to compete in the annual Braeburn Sports Festival. This event brings together students from different Braeburn Schools for a fierce but friendly competition.
Our athletes were divided into teams named after iconic Kenyan national parks: Serengeti, Tsavo, Amboseli, and Maasai Mara. They competed in a variety of sports, including athletics, CrossFit, netball, and a gruelling half marathon of swimming and rowing.
Throughout the festival, our kids displayed not only remarkable athletic skills but also exemplary sportsmanship. The spirit of competition was alive and well, with each athlete giving their all in a spirit of fair play and respect for their fellow competitors.
The 2-day event became more than just a test of athletic abilities; it was a platform for building lasting friendships and memories. Laughter, cheers, and a shared love of sports filled the air, creating an unforgettable experience for all involved.
The highlight of the Braeburn Sports Festival was undoubtedly the awards ceremony. Oswadiq Kea (Year 13) emerged as the overall Sportsman of the competition, a testament to his dedication and exceptional performance. Team Amboseli, consisting of Ella, Innocent, Clinton, and Nadine, emerged victorious, securing the top spot. Their collective effort and teamwork led them to glory, and they proudly celebrated their achievement.
Team Maasai Mara, represented by Chantal and Arturo, finished close behind in second place with their incredible performances.
We also express our gratitude to Mr. Dickson Masudi and Mrs. Wizilya Dacar-Lembeli for accompanying and guiding our students throughout this event. The memories made and lessons learned will undoubtedly inspire our young athletes. Well done to everyone, and cheers to many more victories in the future!
