An Unbeelievable (!) Trip for Year 1/2

28th October 2021

Year 1/2 are learning about the fascinating world of bees this term.

Our Year 1/2 teacher, Mr Mosi, invited them to visit his family farm in Sanya Juu where he and his family keep stingless bees. Of course, we jumped at the chance!

Exploring the world of bees, hives and honey was top of their agenda when they arrived and they had an amazing experience seeing, firsthand, how these incredible little workers build and keep their hives. Mr Mosi showed the children how he harvests the honey and the children were delighted to taste honey straight from the source. Yum!

The children are so intrigued and excited by these tiny yet essential parts of our world, they are aiming to introduce a stingless bee colony to our schools sites at both Njiro and Kisongo. Keep an eye out for these future developments and even getting a chance to taste Braeburn Bee Honey!
