BISA EYFS and Primary Take Action for Earth Day!

24th April 2024

Earth Day at Infant School, Njiro Campus:

Our Earth Day celebration commenced with a discussion cantered around our collective mission to enhance the well-being of our planet. From brainstorming strategies such as conserving energy and promoting the use of reusable bags to conscientiously reducing water consumption, planting trees, and fostering a culture of cleanliness, we delved into a diverse array of impactful initiatives aimed at sustainable living.

Earth Day

Inspired by the enthusiasm of our Year 1/2 students, who eagerly shared their visions for a greener, cleaner future, we were reminded of the power of youthful imagination and determination in shaping positive change.

Transitioning from words to action, we embarked on a hands-on endeavor that demonstrated our commitment to making a difference: the planting of canna lily flora beyond the confines of our school campus.

Our stewardship of the Earth goes beyond; Earth Day is not merely an annual event, but a daily commitment to nurturing and preserving our precious planet. We all have a shared responsibility towards the Earth, not just in moments of celebration, but in the quiet moments of everyday life. For it is through our collective actions, sustained day in and day out, that we truly honor and protect the magnificent gift of our planet.

Earth Day at the Main Campus, Kisongo

Over on the main campus, our Primary students kicked off their Earth Day celebrations with an inspiring assembly from their headteacher, Ms Logan, about becoming Active Global Citizens. Students learned about the importance of environmental conservation and taking action for a healthier planet.

Fuelled by their newfound knowledge and a passion for the environment, the students and staff then took to the Kisongo area for a community clean-up. Armed with trash bags and a collective can-do spirit, they worked tirelessly to collect a significant amount of litter.

The sheer volume of trash collected left a big impression on the young minds at BISA. This experience served as a powerful reminder of our responsibility to protect our environment.

We are incredibly proud of our students for taking such an active role in caring for our local community. As Global Citizens, we are committed to doing our part for a healthier planet, and these clean-up efforts are a fantastic example of that commitment in action!
