Here at BISA, we recently welcomed a representative from Strathmore University in Kenya for the annual Strathmore Mathematics competition for A-level students, bringing together a total of 18 contestants from BISA, St. Constantine and St. Jude's.
The competition format tested the individual abilities of each student, requiring them to tackle 30 challenging math questions. BISA student Salaam Nkinda emerged victorious, showcasing his exceptional mathematical prowess and securing a remarkable prize: a full scholarship to Strathmore University for his chosen course of study.
The competition also recognised outstanding female BISA mathematicians. Malika Shibuda impressed everyone by claiming the second-place spot. Catherine Buzoya, also from BISA, secured a well-deserved third place, rounding out the top performers among the female participants.
This competition served as a fantastic platform for BISA students to showcase their mathematical talents and compete against their peers. Salaam's remarkable achievement not only reflects his hard work and dedication but also highlights the strength of the academic program at BISA. The full scholarship to Strathmore University presents a tremendous opportunity for Salaam to pursue his academic goals at a prestigious institution.
The competition is a positive example of collaboration between schools and universities, fostering a spirit of academic competition and excellence. It is also particularly encouraging to see female students like Malika and Catherine excelling in mathematics. This paves the way for future generations of young women to embrace mathematics with confidence and achieve great things.
