Last week, one of our Secondary Maths teachers, Ms Wright,  joined Year 6 for a lesson on negative numbers. The pupils impressed her with their enthusiasm, willingness to share ideas, and the depth of their understanding. A highlight of the session was seeing Year 6 learners self-regulate and choose the level of challenge most suited to their understanding, demonstrating real metacognitive skills.

This visit was also a wonderful opportunity for professional collaboration between the Primary and Secondary Maths teams, sharing strategies and approaches to strengthen continuity across phases. Next week, Year 6 will in turn visit Secondary to continue building these important links.
