Building Business Knowledge in Year 13

26th September 2022

The Year 13 BTEC Business students visited the Maasai Market in Arusha last week. This term the students are studying sales techniques and processes. They had the opportunity to learn about the various sales techniques employed by the different vendors within the busy and popular Maasai Market; the standards they use to set their product prices, how they identify prospective customers, how they interact with customers and build relationships with them, how they deal with challenges and how they get past them.

In addition to this valuable knowledge, the students were fortunate to have a brief history lesson on Ujamaa and a tale about the market fire that had gutted their artwork in 2014. Each vendor was eager and open to sharing their knowledge with the pupils. Some even allowed the students to contribute by adding their drawing skills to their artwork.
