Building Community in Early Years

All communities, large or small, are made up of people who are diverse in many ways, including age, cultural and language background, life experience, religion, values and lifestyle. The BISA community is no different and each family comes with a unique perspective and investment in the community. This includes children and staff as they bring their own experiences, strengths and needs.

Early Years Centres are natural places for providing links between families within their communities. Strong communities help to create strong support networks within changing times and social and family events can be a positive way for families to connect with each other.

BISA Early Years are committed to supporting these positive connections from the children's earliest school days. From the Welcome Picnic in Term 1, parent partnership and involvement is encouraged. This term each year group within Early Years is hosting a social event for their class and their family. The families from FS1 attended a Swim Party at our pool on the Kisongo Campus last weekend which was well attended and throroughly enjoyed by families and staff. This weekend, Creche are hosting a 'farmyard' picnic at the Early Years Town Campus, while FS2 are having a family cinema trip to see 'Beauty and the Beast'.
