Colourfest at BISA represents the diverse inclusivity of cultures that we constantly celebrate and welcome in our community. Colourfest in specific is celebrated to commemorate the Indian tradition of the Holi ‘Festival of Colours’. This ancient tradition marks the end of winter and honours the triumph of good over evil as well as celebrating spring, love, and new life.
As students of the Braeburn community, we believe we can learn a lot from other cultures, and by exposing ourselves to these new experiences we have a chance to grow in school not only academically but become more aware of the world around us.
We did this at Braeburn by inviting students to come together to this vibrant and colourful event where students, staff, and families could bond through a fun event in which we partake in the colour throw, where participants threw handfuls of colourful powder at each other, turning the air into an electrifying rainbow of colours. This event included primary students from 2-3 pm and soon after secondary students across different schools from 3-5:30 pm.
Through the Colourfest event, the prefect body was able to raise 1.4 million Tsh which will be poured into supporting students in the scholarship fund and similarly poured into projects the prefects aim to carry out in hopes of improving the school and students' schooling experience.
Overall, Colourfest was a huge success, which left a happy, fun atmosphere buzzing throughout the school. We couldn't have done it without the support of our dedicated staff, prefects, and enthusiastic students, who we thank for their active participation. We hope to continue to celebrate our diverse community and create more opportunities for fun and connection in the future.
