Empowering Through Art: Year 1/2 Students Visit Sanaa

13th June 2024

Our young Guardians of the Planet were brimming with excitement as they went on a special field trip to Sanaa, a local organisation with a mission that truly inspires. Sanaa's dedication to empowering people with disabilities through art and giving back to the Tanzanian community perfectly aligned with the school's enrichment program and the Year 1/2 students' current topic: the properties of materials.

The visit wasn't just about learning; it was about experiencing the impact firsthand. Students had the incredible opportunity to witness Sanaa's artisans in action, using their skills and creativity to transform everyday materials into beautiful works of art. This not only provided a practical understanding of different material properties, it also sparked the students' imaginations.

Perhaps even more impactful was the chance to see how Sanaa empowers individuals with disabilities. The students learned how this amazing organisation provides opportunities, fosters artistic expression, and celebrates the unique talents of every person. Witnessing this firsthand reinforced the importance of inclusivity and the power of art to create positive change.

The trip to Sanaa was a chance for our Year 1/2 students to connect with their community, learn about social responsibility, and be inspired by the resilience and creativity of others. A huge thank you once again to Sanaa for opening their doors and hearts to our future Guardians of the Planet!
