Greetings from the heart of Moshi at Weru Weru Campsite!
Read on for the highlights of the Year 7 recent escapade to Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Plantation.
Day 1: A Journey into Chagga Culture and Natural Beauty
The adventure kicked off with a warm welcome at Weru Weru Campsite, followed by a concise briefing about our upcoming trek to the majestic Materuni Waterfalls. A short 40-minute walk immersed us in the rich culture of the Chagga tribe, as our guide shared insights into village life, local flora, and fauna. The awe-inspiring views, coupled with glimpses of Mount Kilimanjaro's summit, left us breathless.
Upon reaching the waterfalls, standing at an impressive 80 meters, we discovered an inviting pool at its base. Eager students wasted no time and took a refreshing dive, turning the visit into an unforgettable swim. As if this wasn't enough, we made a pit stop at a remote village, an hour away from the falls, where we witnessed the fascinating process of locally brewing coffee. From cultivation to roasting, we were engaged in every step, even joining in the traditional coffee grinding accompanied by rhythmic Chagga songs.
The day concluded back at the campsite with a delectable dinner, followed by an evening of tent fixing under the starlit Tanzanian sky.
Day 2: Delightful Mornings and Leisure Pursuits.
The next day started with an early rise to a scrumptious breakfast, with the added privilege of personally preparing fresh fruits. After indulging our taste buds, students enjoyed a leisurely day, embracing opportunities to relax by the swimming pool, catch a movie, and practice some essential first aid tips.
Our Materuni adventure was more than just a journey; it was a fusion of cultural exploration, natural wonders, and hands-on experiences. We look forward to sharing more thrilling adventures with you in the future.
Stay tuned for the next chapter of our escapades!
