In the world of early childhood education, every moment is an opportunity for learning and discovery. Through hands-on exploration and the curiosity of young minds, we lay the foundation for a lifetime of scientific inquiry and wonder.
The FS2 children recently enjoyed an exciting journey to explore changes in matter, focusing on how liquids turn into solids and vice versa through melting and freezing.
What happens when we freeze water? To find out, the children enthusiastically investigated this process. They poured water into variously shaped containers, noting how the frozen water took on the form of the container. Excited by their ice moulds, they experimented to discover which would melt faster and why. Placing the ice moulds in different locations around the school, they eagerly observed and discussed the factors influencing the melting rates, fostering a deeper understanding of the freezing and melting processes.
But the exploration did not end there. The children then enjoyed a tasty experiment: making healthy ice lollies. They blended fresh fruits into juice, marvelling at how solid fruits turned into liquid. Pouring the juice into moulds, they eagerly awaited the frozen outcome.
After patiently waiting, the moment of truth arrived: the ice lollies emerged from the freezer, a delicious testament to their scientific and culinary adventure. What a delight!
