Our FS2 students at the Njiro campus had a very different sort of PE lesson this week! Instead of the normal activities, we headed out of school on an adventure, exploring our local neighbourhood. This was a perfect opportunity for impromptu, real-world learning!
Our journey began with an important discussion on road safety. We delved into the essentials: how to react when encountering a car or a motorbike, the importance of being attentive while walking, and always listening and following our teachers' guidance. This lesson was a valuable exercise in responsibility.
On our walk, the terrain we encountered added to the children's experience, ranging from flat stretches to gentle slopes.
Along the way, we addressed our responsibility to care for the environment. The children were quick to spot discarded plastic bottles, and they suggested that we install more trash bins in the vicinity of the school. Being eco-conscious starts young at BISA!
Our adventure culminated at a serene river. The children were captivated by the sight of tadpoles and eagerly tossed rocks into the water.
This day was an excellent example of learning by doing, where physical education was combined with valuable life lessons and an appreciation for our surroundings.
