13th October 2023

In Crèche class we have been learning all about farm animals with our focus song ‘Old Macdonald Had A Farm'.

The children enjoyed exploring the new sensory tray set up like a farm. We talked about where on the farm the different animals lived and what they liked to do on the farm. The horses in the stable, the cows munching grass, and the pigs rolling in the mud.

At circle time we sang the song 'Old Macdonald Had a Farm' and used finger puppets and stick puppets. We also listened to the sounds that the farm animals at Old Mac Donald’s farm.

We had a special visitor at the Infant school - a real cow. This experience allowed the children to connect with nature and gain an understanding of the source of some of our food.

Initially, many children were hesitant to approach the friendly cow, which provides us with milk. However, with the assistance of the owner, we became braver and made observations about the cow's behaviour and appearance. We watched it swish its tail, heard its distinctive moo, and compared its real-life appearance to how it's depicted in storybooks.

Exciting learning and adventures are a regular part of the Creche class experience.
