Geography at Braeburn aims to help us to explore and understand space and place - recognising the differences in cultures, economies, landscapes and environments across the world, and exploring the links between them in an ever changing world. The more we understand about where we live the more global citizens we become.
In Year 7 we are focusing on the geography of Africa and the challenges and opportunities that our continent offers. Year 8s are investigating the causes and impact of earthquakes and what we can do to reduce their impacts. Year 9 have been studying different types of migration and focused on refugees and why people are forced to flee their home countries. Year 10 are working towards their field trip to study the changes on the river Themi and year 11 are working on their final unit of economy and energy before their final exams.
The study of geography is about more than just memorising places on a map. Geography is the subject that holds the key to our future.
