Last Friday, the much-anticipated Friday Night Lights once again lit up our indoor basketball court with energy, excitement, and a passion for the game. This event, featuring the popular FIBA-endorsed 3x3 basketball format, gathered teams from all over, ready to showcase their talent in competition. With events like the heart-racing free throw challenge and the intense 3-point shootout, the evening is a celebration of skill, teamwork, and the spirit of basketball.

The atmosphere was electric as teams arrived, each one brimming with enthusiasm and determination. “The excitement was contagious,” shared Coach Masudi. “You could feel the energy as soon as you walked in.” Each player was eager to prove themselves on the court, and the audience cheered as the athletes brought their best to the floor.

As the night unfolded, there were plenty of highlights to keep everyone on their toes. In the U16 category, our very own Evins (Y11), Eden (Y11), Manu (Y11), and Daniel (Y10) claimed victory with teamwork and resilience. Meanwhile, in the U19 category, the duo of Pedro and Jolie (Y12) were part of the team that a well-deserved gold. “It felt amazing to win,” Evins said, grinning. “All the hard work paid off, and we couldn’t have done it without each other.”

Friday Night Lights wasn’t just about the competition—it was a true community experience. Friends and families cheered from the sidelines, while younger students eagerly watched their role models play. “Events like this bring us together,” noted Maryam, our Sixth form and Sports Secretary. “The students, the staff, and the families all become part of the action.”

Friday Night Lights reminded us all of the joy, camaraderie, and determination that define the game of basketball. As Coach Masudi summed it up, “This event isn’t just about winning or losing. It’s about coming together, pushing ourselves, and celebrating the sport we love.”
