Oral health is an important objective covered in Early Years settings to support children to be aware of what good oral health means – and help them and their parents to understand the importance of cleaning their teeth and eating healthily. This is because dental decay is a serious problem in young children but the good news is that, it is largely preventable.
Dr. Fatema, a dentist from Total Care Health Center visited the FS1s on the 18th of November 2022 to talk us through ways of taking good care of our teeth and making healthy choices about food and drink, She emphasised brushing our teeth in the morning, and at night as well as parents help with flossing them occasionally. The FS1s also learned how to brush their teeth using a proper brushing technique for 2 minutes.
