Walk in Love is an amazing organisation which is based only two minutes from the gates of BISA. When students heard about the work that Walk in Love were doing to support malnourished babies and mothers in the local community, they knew they had to rise to the occasion to help. The charity was asking for donations of peanut butter (which is high in vital proteins and calories) and baby formula to support families in urgent need.
To support this incredible cause, Braeburn students generously donated their winning vouchers from the recent prize-giving assembly, asking that the money was instead spent on donations. Thanks to this amazing and selfless act, as well as the cash donations given by staff, parents and students on the day, we raised a stunning 600,000 tsh. Mr Denis kindly scoured Arusha for all the peanut butter he could lay his hands on, and the result was a stack of boxes full of over 100 tubs of peanut butter tubs, as well as 10 tubs of formula.
On Friday, Frida and Gloria, representatives from Walk in Love, came to join our assembly and be presented with the donation- and to explain to the students the difference that their generosity would make. Frida told the students that the peanut butter would help children to ‘gain weight, meet their developmental milestones, and go on to lead healthy lives’ and that their donations were helping the charity to ‘save lives in the local community’.
We were all so proud of our students for sacrificing their prizes for the greater good of the local community. Well done, everyone!
