Gold, Silver, and Bronze: Our Swimmers Excel at the Red Knot Swim Challenge

Last weekend, ten of our swimmers participated in the 3rd Annual Red Knot Swim and Sprint competition at St. Constantine’s, the only Tanzanian mid and long-distance race. The shortest race is 200m (8 lengths) and the longest 1500m (60 lengths), our swimmers showcased remarkable endurance and skill.

Standout Performances: Early on Saturday morning, Baylor Harrison (Year 10) and Annabelle Weston (Year 7) demonstrated incredible resilience as they embarked on the challenging 1500m swim. Both were in the under-17 age category, and their stamina was truly impressive. Baylor brought home the Silver medal, while Annabelle earned Bronze.

Overall, our team delivered outstanding results, winning:

  • 3 Golds
  • 5 Silvers
  • 9 Bronzes
  • 10 Personal Bests
  • Numerous new times in races and distances they had not swum before!

Noteworthy Achievements:

  • Elli Massawe and Emmy Massawe each swam the 200m breaststroke for the first time, showing incredible growth in their technique and stamina.
  • Lucia Colombo claimed Silver in the 200m Breaststroke.
  • Nuola Wang  earned Bronze in the 200m Breaststroke—an event she had never competed in before.
  • Edward Rutagonya won Bronze in his first-ever 200m Breaststroke.
  • Cohen Harrison secured Bronze in the 200m Backstroke.
  • Elsie Weston earned Bronze in both the 200m Freestyle and 200m Backstroke.
  • Harper Harrison shone with a Gold in the 400m Freestyle and Silver in the 200m Freestyle.
  • Annabelle Weston  had an impressive showing with a Silver in the 400m Freestyle and Bronze in the 1500m, 200m Freestyle, and 800m Freestyle.
  • Baylor Harrison earned Gold in the 200m IM and 200m Backstroke, Silver in the 1500m and 200m Freestyle, and Bronze in the 200m Breaststroke.

Baylor also won the most points in her age group, while Annabelle was awarded the Most Metres Swum at the event, having swum an impressive 2900m!

Special Mention: A special shout-out goes to Ms. Griffiths, who ran the 5km race in memory of Dave Tozer and brought home a Bronze medal!

We are immensely proud of our swimmers for their dedication and effort, which truly paid off in this competition. A huge thank you to Coach Chisumo for all his hours of training and to Ms. Harrison for her unwavering support of the team.

And a massive thankyou to all our swim parents who support the children bringing them to early morning training and supporting throughout the competition!
