Happy Lunar New Year from Year 4

30th January 2025

Year 4 recently had the pleasure of celebrating the Lunar New Year with a special guest – Mama Winston!

Mama Winston generously shared her knowledge and enthusiasm for Chinese New Year with our students. She explained the significance of the holiday, including the importance of family gatherings, lanterns, the symbolism of red and the exciting lion dances that are traditionally performed. The children were captivated by the stories and eager to learn more.

To make the experience even more memorable, each student received a special gift – a traditional red envelope! Inside, they found a lucky money gift and a personal blessing or wish written in Mandarin. This thoughtful gesture allowed our students to experience a tangible piece of Chinese culture.

We are incredibly grateful to Mama Winston for taking the time to share her cultural heritage with our class. Her informative and engaging presentation truly enriched our students' learning experience. Thank you, Mama Winston, for bringing a piece of the Lunar New Year to our classroom!
