12th February 2025
As Head of Primary, there are days that just fill you with pride. Last Friday, February 7th, was one of those days. Our Key Stage 2 Interhouse Hockey Tournament was the first event of it's kind for our students and to see the students from Years 3 through 6 so invested, so enthusiastic, and so supportive of each other, well, it was truly inspiring.
From the moment the first whistle blew, the students gave it their all. The children, decked out in their house colours, were buzzing with excitement and a healthy dose of competitive spirit. But what impressed me most wasn't just their passion, but their sportsmanship. Every child, regardless of skill level, played with respect for their teammates and opponents. They understood the rules, they applied the skills they'd learned in PE, and they demonstrated teamwork in the truest sense of the word. It was a joy to watch. Seeing their progress over the term culminate in such a fantastic display was incredibly rewarding. You could see the confidence growing with every pass, every shot, every save.
Of course, congratulations are in order for our winners! Mawenzi House played brilliantly to take the U9 title, and Meru House showed fantastic skill and strategy to win the U11s and ultimately, the overall tournament by goal difference! Well done to all of you!
But honestly, every child who took part is a winner in my eyes. They showed dedication, they showed teamwork, and they showed true sportsmanship. That, to me, is more valuable than any trophy. Days like these remind me why I love being a Head of Primary. It's not just about academics - it's about nurturing well-rounded individuals who understand the importance of teamwork, respect, and healthy competition. I couldn't be prouder of our students and our staff.
