17th January 2023
The Inter Braeburn Swimming Gala in Nairobi, Kenya was an event not to be missed. On the 12th of January, 30 of our kids, ranging from ages 8-17, set off to compete against other schools in the two-day competition, and they were met with beautiful weather for the occasion.
The competition was fierce, with 8 schools participating, but our students gave it their absolute best and many of them broke their personal bests. Despite the tough competition, our team managed to come in 4th place out of 8 schools overall, and we came back with an impressive 24 medals in total. We won 2 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals.
One of the highlights of the event was Lila, who smashed the record by 5 seconds in the girls’ 12-13 50 breaststroke. Another notable performance was from Lucy Fraser (Year 7), who won the 12-13 girls 50 freestyle.
Our 12-13 girls were just shy of 5 points in winning the overall category but still managed to place second. The 14 and over boys also put up a strong fight, earning a third-place finish.
A massive congratulations to all the swimmers who competed, and brought home medals. They made themselves proud and the school even prouder. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Wizilya, Mr. James, and Ms. Marcelina who accompanied the students to the event. Their dedication and hard work paid off and made for a successful and memorable trip.
