Interhouse Athletics Triumph – Primary and Secondary

This year's Interhouse Athletics competitions were a fantastic display of athleticism, teamwork, and perseverance across both the Primary and Secondary schools. With students giving their all, the atmosphere was charged with excitement, and the results certainly didn’t disappoint.

In the Primary competition, Kili claimed first place with 214 points, followed by Mawenzi with 196 points, Meru in third with 180 points, and Lengai rounding out the standings with 170 points. Students from Year 1 to Year 6 competed in a range of events, from sprints to long jumps, showing the results of their hard training during PE lessons, lunchtime sessions, and flexible learning hours. The spirit of sportsmanship was evident as participants cheered each other on, making the event a memorable one for all houses.

The younger year groups showcased incredible talent, with Zephaniah and Joanna leading the charge in the 50m and 150m races. Kylian and Candela dominated the throwing events, while Luke and Giovanna impressed in both sprints and jumps.

In the upper year groups Jamian and Bobae excelled in the 100m and 200m races. Richmond and Hailey showcased their versatility in both sprints and jumps, while Cohen and Vanna proved to be formidable competitors in the throwing events.

The relays were a highlight of the competition, with Mawenzi House dominating both the girls' and mixed relays. Their strong teamwork and coordination proved to be the deciding factor in these events.

Overall, the Primary inter-house athletics competition was a resounding success, highlighting the talent and sportsmanship of our young students.

On the Secondary side, Kili House took home the top honours, with Meru in second place, Lengai in third, and Mawenzi in fourth. There were some incredible individual performances as well. Sholike came within 1.5 seconds of breaking the 200m record in the KS4/5 boys' race, while in KS3, several girls broke the shot put record, though Sasha now holds it firmly with an impressive throw of 9.3m. Bradley narrowly missed the discus record by just 0.10m in the KS4/5 division, reaching 28.50m.

Meanwhile, Reem was just 1.6 seconds shy of the KS3 girls' 400m record, and Cai ran a lightning-fast 13.59 in the KS4/5 girls' 100m, coming just 0.16 seconds off the record. Yuri also made his mark, finishing only 0.28 seconds off the boys' 100m record with a remarkable time of 11.42 seconds.

The event was a testament to the dedication of our students and the commitment of the teachers who guided them. Congratulations to all the athletes for their incredible performances and their display of true school spirit.
