The Key Stage 3 students put on a fantastic performance last weekend, showcasing so much talent! It is easy to forget they are only 11 year olds! So much is demanded from them - dancing, singing, acting (at the same time), remembering cues, costume changes, staying silent behind stage and yet they deliver every single time.
We are so proud of their hard work and professionalism. Bravo, everyone!
Once on this Island, set in the French Antilles in the Carribean Sea, explores the themes of racism, segregation and colonialism.
Ti Moune is a fearless peasant girl who falls in love with a wealthy boy from the other side of the island. When their divided cultures keep them apart, Ti Moune is guided by the powerful island gods, Erzulie, Asaka, Papa Ge, and Agwe, on a remarkable quest to reunite with the man who has captured her heart.
The story explores life, pain, grief, faith and hope and the sacrifice TiMoune must make to heal the island of its racist and colonial past.
