Kiswahili Culture in EYFS and Primary

1st February 2023

We know that learning Kiswahili within the host country opens the door of communication between people of different cultural backgrounds and develops a better understanding of the Tanzanian society, history, culture and traditions, allowing BISA students to create a deeper connection to their local community.

Here in BISA, all students in Early Years and Primary have lessons in Kiswahili and it is incredible to watch the confidence with which our student use and engage with the language!

Kiswahili has become a good source of communication for the youngest children. Students from as young as two years old are learning Kiswahili and they love and enjoy their fun, interactive lessons.

They all speak and follow instructions; ona, kidole, mkono, ona mimi. As you can see, they learn with joy!

Yr 4 Speaking skills: weather news - hali ya hewa

The weather has drastically changed around the world. Enjoy some of our work in conversation as we report on the weather from last term. Let's see how the weather this term it's already! Joto sana!

Learning a language is a difficult and time-consuming task that requires dedication, patience and hard work. If you are reading this, then you probably already know that.

We are delighted that our students in Year 4, 5 and 6 are ready to take their Kiswahili exams at the international Kiswahili centre in MS-TCDC - USA RIVER on the 13th and 14th of March. Please take the time to wish them good luck!
