It is exciting times in the language department with our new Memorandum of Understanding between BISA and MSTCDC signed, sealed and delivered. Ms. Sekemi and Mrs Baker spent time this week at the MSTCDC Centre in Usa River to meet with their leadership team and discuss new developments in our collaborative Swahili certificate. The adapted ACTFL certificate (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) is the result of lots of hard work from both sides to ensure a tailored curriculum, individualised attention and the right exam provision for students in Y5 to Y8. This is the first of it's kind in the whole of Tanzania - something that we are really proud of. Primary students will be sitting their exams in March in Usa River, with Secondary following in May.
Communication, in all languages, is at the very heart of what we do here. We play games, we role play, we read, we write, we take quizzes, we work inside and outside of the classroom, we make mistakes, we correct, we listen, we learn. We love it!
