Secondary mathematics education is a crucial aspect of a student's academic journey. Not only does it provide the foundation for higher-level math courses, but it also plays a significant role in developing critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. Great mathematics teaching in Secondary school requires more than just the ability to explain concepts and equations. It involves creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to ask questions, explore mathematical concepts, and develop a deeper understanding of the subject.
At Braeburn, we understand that each student has unique learning needs and styles and we provide individualised support to help them achieve their full potential. We also incorporate real-world applications, technology, exposure to local and overseas math competitions, and collaborative activities in our teaching and learning, we try to make math more accessible, enjoyable, and relevant to students' lives. With the right teaching approach, high school mathematics can be a transformative experience that prepares students for academic and professional success. That is why our Mathematics department consistently gains excellent results for our students in both IGCSE and A-Levels.
Three of our students who took part in the Pangea world Math Olympiad all got bronze awards in the finals that were on the 18th of February 2023. Well done to Ilina, Feyikemi, and Jo-Marie for representing Braeburn in this competition and making it to the finals.
