Unga Babies is an annual event organised by the EarlyAct and Interact Clubs of BISA. Based on the book, 'Flour Babies' by Anne Fine, on the day of the event, students bring a bag of flour/unga from home and care for as if it were a real baby. They carry their Unga Baby with them at all times and make sure it is safe and well-cared for. At the end of the day, all of the Unga babies are collected and donated to a worthy cause. This year the recipients were Canaan Children's Centre.
The BISA Interact and EarlyAct clubs are sponsored by the Rotary Club, a worldwide non-profit organisation that works in helping others who are in need, in the community as well as around the world. At BISA Interact and EarlAct come together as a team, support causes that they care about, and make a lasting impact on the lives of others. The clubs are not just about giving back, but also about learning valuable skills, building friendships, and becoming leaders in the community.
Community Service is a powerful way to make a difference and create change. This year the Interact and EarlyAct clubs are planning on raising further awareness with documentaries and during assembly in school. They are also planning an event which will take place in November this year so keep your eyes peeled for more amazing acts of community service to come.
