At Braeburn, we pride ourselves in, not only recognising specific mental health days and months throughout the year such as Movember and Mental Health Awareness Month, but in highlighting the importance of mental health in our day-to-day lives.
One of the many ways we do this is through our mental health strategies which are shared every week and practiced in registration and PSHE lessons, teaching students and staff how to use mental health strategies to cope with common mental health issues, as well as providing strategies that can help during more difficult times in the school year- exam season being one of these times of course. These strategies are shared every week and available to access on our school drive.
One of our goals is to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and reduce the stigma attached to such issues. The mental health committee meets throughout the year to discuss issues and improve the mental health policy in the school, finding the best possible solutions to arising problems. A counsellor is also available on campus on various days throughout the week, and students are advised to see her whenever they need to; we want to normalise visiting counsellors and therapists just as we visit physicians and doctors.
We encourage our Braeburn family to support us during this month and come together for mental health, let us break the stigma together.
