The recent rains have transformed BISA's Nature School site into a wonderland of muddy mayhem and pure, unadulterated joy! Our Primary classes, from Year 1 all the way through, are reveling in the magic of their weekly sessions, proving that a little mud goes a long way in building connection and learning.

This week, our Year 1/2 students truly embraced the elements, becoming what we affectionately call our "Mud Mermaids." Covered from head to toe in mud, their smiles radiated pure delight. The sound of their laughter echoed around the campus from the sheer fun and freedom found in nature.

"My heart, brain and whole body is singing!" exclaimed Grace, a Year 1 student, perfectly capturing the feeling of exhilaration that permeates the air at Nature School.

Nature School is more than just a break from the classroom; it's a vital part of our curriculum, a space where children can connect with the natural world. It's a place where they are relaxed, fully engaged, and empowered to lead their own learning. The children work together to create child-led projects, testing out ideas, exploring the ecosystem, and discovering the wonders that surround them.

The recent rains have amplified the sensory experience, offering a unique opportunity to explore the properties of mud, observe the flow of water, and discover the hidden life beneath the surface. Children have been building dams, creating mud sculptures, and investigating the tiny creatures that thrive in the damp environment.

"Nature School is such a highlight of our week," says one of our Primary teachers. "It's incredible to see how the children blossom in this environment. They are so much more relaxed and confident, and their creativity knows no bounds. They truly understand that they are a part of this natural world, and a sense of stewardship develops organically."

The joy and connection fostered at Nature School are palpable. It's a place where children can be children, where they can explore, create, and discover the magic that lies within the natural world. At BISA, we believe that these experiences are essential for developing well-rounded, curious, and compassionate individuals.

So go ahead, Mud Mermaids, and revel in the glorious mess! Embrace the squelch, the slip, and the sheer joy of connecting with the earth. We look forward to countless more moments of discovery, laughter, and growth as our BISA students continue to explore the wonders of Nature School.
