Pyramids and Prisms... and marshmallows!

13th September 2017

In Year 6, we have been enjoying a more exploratory side to learning about 3-D shapes and their properties.  We have been creating 3-D shapes using art straws and marshmallows.  It was very difficult to not eat the marshmallows whilst we were working.  Thankfully, Mr. B and Mrs. Wallace allowed us to eat them later!  We all understand what VERTICES, EDGES and FACES are now!

We also enjoyed the challenge of piecing together the jumbled up NETS of 3-D shapes.  It was quite a challenge to work these out as many of the shapes had the same type of faces, despite forming different types of pyramids and prisms.

Here are a few photos of us in action.
