Scientific investigation starts young at BISA! Our FS1 children demonstrate their scientific knowledge through play.
Year 1/2T are learning to apply their mathematical knowledge to their understanding of science by collecting, presenting and analyzing data. Exploring, naming and discussing about everyday materials and their simple properties.
We were comparing and grouping together everyday materials on the basis of their solubility by investigating dissolving.
For year 4, this term has been full of exciting, hands-on experiments! We have been researching ‘States of Matter,’ and have discovered some ‘cool’ facts. Did you know water freezes at zero degrees celsius to become ice? Ben helped Year 4 add salt to ice and we were able to watch the temperature drop in comparison to the ice without salt. Try this experiment at home!
We were mesmerized by the water droplets collecting on the top of the cling film. We could move them around with our fingers.
Year 4 talked about the importance of clean water and we built our own water filters out of funnels, stones, pebbles, and sand. We were astonished at how well they worked!
We made dioramas representing the Water Cycle!
We planted Acacia tree seeds in Nature school! We are caring for them as part of our Dragon Award community service.
Science is a key subject for children to learn about as they grow up. Science encourages types of learning such as critical thinking and problem solving which will be applicable in the rest of their lives in and out of the classroom.
