Secondary School Spirit Week

4th March 2022

This week was our Secondary School Spirit Week, a week full of daily fun, creative and educative events that students and all staff were invited to participate in. What makes this week very special, apart from the fact that we got to be creative with our attire, it brought us closer as a community and all the money we raised will go to charity!

The daily events were as follows:

  • Monday - Crazy Hair Day
  • Tuesday - Backwards Dress-up Day (on this day we wore our clothes backwards)
  • Wednesday - Twinning Day (wearing something similar with somebody else)
  • Thursday - This was World Book Day, so we got to dress as our favourite book characters
  • Friday - Anything But A Bag (we put our books and other resources in anything that is not a school bag)

On Crazy Hair Day, we saw people do all sorts of crazy things with their hair, from using bottles, twigs, tissue rolls, feathers, to dyeing sections of their hair, to attaching dolls and making knots...

On Tuesday, the school looked like it had been invaded by aliens. It was all very weird to see people that were walking normally, but looked like they were walking backwards.

On Wednesday we were in uniform, but not quite. Small groups of people dressed up in similar colours. The most popular was black bottoms, white tops and white shoes.

On World Book Day, we had a special assembly where we looked at African authors that have been Nobel Prize winners. We were encouraged to read their books, which are available in our library. Mrs Rogers gave prizes to people who correctly answered the Book Day questions and for the best dressed book characters (3 winners from every key stage!).

Friday was the craziest of them all. The school looked like a marketplace of sorts. We saw handcarts, car tyres, coolers, wheelbarrows, dustbins, laundry baskets, bamboo trays, cooking pots, buckets, chafing dishes, huge suitcases, etc.

We have been very pleased to see many students and staff members participate in this and look forward to having similar events in future. We would like to thank you all for taking part in whichever capacity you did. We celebrate our community’s creative ideas, and how differently we all express ourselves. Follow our Social Media pages to see more pictures.
