This week has seen over 50 students join our sixth form to try out the range of subjects we have on offer in the sixth form. We are lucky in that we offer courses to suit everyone's interests from hands-on vocationally delivered courses like Media to more academic classroom based studies like Chemistry. Some of our courses include coursework, like English Literature and some include practical components such as computer science whilst others include spoken recordings such as French. A number of our subjects include only written papers whilst others are based totally on practical assessments such as giving a presentation or a performance. The range of options available is exciting as it gives all our students the opportunity to choose their favourite subjects and their favourite ways of working.
Taster week enabled students to try out a range of new subjects and ways of working to help them decide what they want to study over the next two years. They met their new teachers, discovered more about the new courses and found out the requirements and costs of different universities around the world. Normally students join us for the week and experience life, first hand in boarding. This year, however, they tasted these subjects virtually from Dar, Nairobi and as far away as London. They met their new teachers and tried out the work on-line. They made new on-line friends in readiness to meet them face to face in August and they enjoyed a virtual tour of the boarding house before chatting to the boarding staff about what to expect.
More details about the courses available and the universities around the world that our students move onto can be found in our new on-line prospectus.
