8th March 2017
Last Friday saw the Primary and Senior Swimming Galas take place at the BISA pool. Led by Coach Rama, our swimmers competed admirably and showed off all their skills. From the youngest in Year 1 to our Senior Swim Team, each competitor showed good sportsmanship, focus and determination throughout the competition.
Our Primary swim gala was a sunny, funny, yummy, scrummy affair! Lots of cheering and excitement from children and adults alike spurred our competitors on in the water. Every year, our times and techniques improve, which in turn leads to higher expectations and levels of achievement. This year was the closest competiton yet; just 4 points separated first and second position with Lengai being the overall victors. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

Coach Rama updated us on this academic year in swimming: This academic year we picked up where we left off last year with students breaking their personal best times in every swim meet we attended. In the senior squad we had a number of swimmers qualifying for international competitions, once again swimmers qualified for South Africa Level 2 and 3, they are Elsa Rozencwagj, Niamh Baker and Richard Andrews. We had Jack Ayling and Marin Reece qualifying to represent Tanzania for CANA Zone 3 in Kigali, Rwanda.
Our primary team has grown in numbers in this academic year and have begun to show great improvement in competitions around Arusha and nationally. We have swimmers as young as 7 years competing with other students twice their age and keeping up with them. We will be heading to Nairobi for the Junior Inter-Braeburn swimming competition and will be looking to improve our overall ranking from last year.
Last week's Inter-house Swimming Gala saw Lengai win the Primary section and Meru the Secondary section. There was huge improvement in level of swimming and confidence in both Primary and Secondary where swimmers, who in last year's Inter-house could just kick a width, were now able to swim a length of freestyle. The Inter-house Swimming Gala was good preparation for the St Constantine Swimming Gala being held this Saturday 18th March 2017 at SCIS. Primary will be from 8:30am to 12pm and Secondary from 12pm to 4pm. Join us there!
