Tanzania National Open Swimming Championships 2022

29th September 2022

So much shouting, so much fun, so many personal bests, and 6 medals! BISA swim team is amazing!

12 swimmers ranging from Year 5 to year 12 who qualified for the National Championship really showed what Braeburn students are made of. Every single swimmer swam faster than they ever had before, taking up to 10 seconds of their previous personal best.

Amongst the medalists were Lila Joly, who got a bronze for her 100m breaststroke, while Harper Harrison and Baylor Harrison achieved bronze medals in the 100m back-stroke in their age groups.

Overall the girls team came 5th out of 10 ( not bad with only 10 girls!)

A record breaking perfromance!

Ophelie Konig achieved a hat-trick of gold, silver, and bronze in her races. Not only that, but Ophelie is also now the Tanzanian National record holder for the 15 & over Women 200 IM with the record time of 3:07.71.

We are incredibly proud of her!

The team lost their voices not only for shouting and encouraging their own teammates but also swimmers in other teams who they had made friends with and wanted to achieve their best too.

Our students were recognised by receiving the award for being the most helpful and supportive team.

We could not be more proud!

Massive congratulations to Ophelie, Martino, Lila, Baylor, Adelaide, Elsie, Lucy, Keza, Harper, Lucas, Annabelle, Lucia and Miss Wizzie!
