Here at BISA, we are committed to providing our students with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in their chosen careers. With this in mind, our careers programme offers a range of opportunities for our students to explore their interests, talents, and aspirations, and to make informed decisions about their future.
In Year 9, our students are introduced to the world of vocational and personality tests, administered by Morrisby. These tests help students identify their strengths, interests, and preferences, which in turn can help them make informed subject choices for their IGCSEs. By taking these tests, our students can gain a deeper understanding of their own skills and interests, which can guide them towards subjects and career paths that they are passionate about.
In Year 10 and 12, our students have the opportunity to participate in a week's worth of work experience, which can be a valuable addition to their CVs. Work experience enables our students to gain practical, hands-on experience in a professional setting, and to develop essential employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management. Our students have the chance to explore different careers and industries, and to network with professionals who can provide them with guidance and advice.
In Year 12, our students take NOVVA's vocational test, which helps them map out their undergraduate choices and provides them with university options that are best suited to their preferences. This test takes into account our students' academic strengths, interests, and personality traits, and offers them personalised guidance on the courses and universities that would be most suitable for them. This enables our students to make informed decisions about their higher education, and to choose courses and universities that align with their career goals.
BISA is committed to providing its students with a well-rounded education that includes career planning. Our school recognizes the importance of helping students develop pathways to success, which is why our students have access to a specialist, Mark Vagner, who oversees the careers and university program. Mark is a highly skilled counsellor who has actively pursued additional training by joining the International Association for College Admission Counselling (IACAC) and becoming a leader in the International Career and Counselling Movement (IC3). As a result, he has established a broad network of connections with various higher education institutions, which allows him to offer our students a range of opportunities to explore their interests, gain practical experience, and make informed decisions about their future.
We look forward to continuing to support our students on their career journeys.
