The Future looks Bright for Year 10 and 12

1st February 2024

It’s that time of the year again.

For everyone involved, January is usually a month of adjustment. Getting back into the rigour of things proves to be especially challenging after the slow and festive season. However, at BISA we are committed to ensuring that we work just as hard as we play.

Our Year 10 and 12 students have just completed a week-long field placement at their dream professions within our local community. Before the term began, our students were busy learning how to craft the perfect cover letters, construct modern CVs as well as research potential placements. Over the holidays, the students were then instructed to be proactive and reach out to inquire about gaining some work experience into the new year. We are adamant that our students learn and grow to be self-sufficient and self-confident individuals.

That was certainly put to the test, our students learned valuable lessons about the workforce and what to expect. The key lesson I feel our students learned was one on flexibility. Sometimes you have to make adjustments, when your initial preferences don’t pan out.

Within our student body, we have future lawyers, doctors, engineers, politicians and creative performers. We are lucky to have good relationships with local businesses and industries here in Arusha, as most, if not all, were highly welcoming to our students. We had placements ranging from the luxurious, boutique hotel of African Tulip to the industrial and mechanical RSA and Hanspaul companies, offering unique experiences to our students. Not to mention, our lively and professional production team who travelled to Nairobi to perform during that week.

All in all this year, our students have absorbed a lot of knowledge and information and the feedback provided by their appointed supervisors has been nothing short of positive and exemplary. They were praised for being polite, hardworking and keen to learn on the job.

Just to mention a few placements, this year our students have had the opportunity to work at:

  • Gran Melia
  • Grumeti Air
  • African Court
  • Miracle Experience
  • D’Souza Advocates
  • Media Works
  • Art & Clay

Thank you to all of the business who hosted our students!
