Transition Time

29th June 2017

When students change class within or between schools, they must adjust to new surroundings, become familiar with new teachers and, sometimes, new classmates, learn new ways of working and make sense of the rules and routines that operate in their classes. Students must also adjust to the social changes that happen when changing schools and classes.

Here at BISA, students are supported through transition in a number of ways, most recently with our 'Transition Morning' in Early Years and Primary. Transition morning gives the children a chance to spend the morning in their new classroom, getting to know their new teacher and getting a taste of what's to come in the next academic year.

In Primary, our students enjoyed a variety of 'getting to know you' activities with their new teachers. The new Year 6 students even took part in active team-building challenges on the field, building up their already strong bond as a class.

In Early Years, both in Kisongo and Town Campus, the children spent the morning getting to know their new teacher and enjoyed decorating stones to be used as a feature at our new Infant School in Njiro at at EYK. We can't wait to see the finished product!
