Under 19s Football Season Kicks Off

Reporting from our first two games of the season, Mr Wheatley:
26th September 2017 - BISA vs ISMAC
The U19s opened the new season this afternoon with an unfortunate 2-1 loss to ISM.
The game was a fiercely contested affair, with no shortage of heavy tackles and wayward passing. It was a game with no real clear cut chances but it was ISM who opened the scoring towards the end of the first half, despite some resolute defending from our defence - Junior, Amal and Collins putting in solid first-half displays.
The second half was far more open - as legs became tired and passes became even more wayward. We grew into the game and dominated ISM for large periods - Jackson putting in a dominating shift in central midfield. But chances remained difficult to come by as their defence held firm. It was Marvin, however, who after some neat play with Ibrahim, rifled a shot into the bottom corner - much to the jubilation of everyone in attendance. Our ecstasy was short-lived, however, as from almost kick off an ISM player was able to almost saunter towards our box, unopposed, before finishing. The team rallied but were unable to break down the ISM defence.
We move on and look forward to our game at St. Constantine's tomorrow after school.
On a far sadder side note, Alfred suffered a severe injury to his right arm - I can only commend him on the bravery he showed in what must have been extremely painful circumstances. Of course, we wish him all the very best with his recovery.

27th September 2017 - BISA vs St Constantines
U19s were extremely unfortunate to go down to their second defeat in as many days.
Braeburn were slow off the mark and against quite athletic opponents, they were made to pay. Just six minutes in, a mix of some tidy work from a St. Cons midfielder and some disorganised defending led to their first opening. Tanay was unfortunately unable to prevent St. Cons from taking the lead. The remaining first half was largely uneventful and Braeburn did well to stay in the game.
The second half, however, was a different endeavour. Braeburn grew into the game and Amal, playing in an unfamiliar role up front, led the line extremely well. St. Cons defence remained resolute, however, and chances were difficult to come by. St. Cons did look at certain periods the more likely to score but Parth made some great saves to keep the score at 1-0. The introduction of Richard upfront towards the latter end of the half, gave us a different impetus but for all our huffing and puffing, we were unable to score.
We look forward to our next game - onwards and upwards!
