In early December, we traveled to Berlin with 18 students. The trip focused on History and Business, but also provided benefits for those studying Science and Geography. The snowy start to the trip, with snow on the ground for the first four days, was a new experience for many students, leading to numerous snowball fights. A trip highlight was visiting the top of the Reichstag building, with its beautiful glass dome ceiling, offering a wintery view across Berlin. Due to the cold weather, indoor attractions like the science and engineering museum were more popular than outdoor ones, keeping students entertained for hours. We also visited tunnels dug out by those who attempted to escape under the Berlin Wall.
With our hotel's central location, we primarily used public transport, providing our students with a valuable experience. Being situated outside the central station allowed our students to develop a genuine sense of direction within the city. These journeys will undoubtedly prepare them for university life. Despite the cold, December proved to be a fantastic time to visit Berlin, with its numerous Christmas markets offering ample exploration opportunities. Experiencing these markets will surely aid our business students in planning next year’s Bonfire Night, while also introducing a new cultural experience for everyone.
Our trip ended with a flight delay in Cairo, which gave us the bonus opportunity to visit the Pyramids, a site that none of the students or I had been to before. Despite being pestered by many to take camel rides, the students loved it and took hundreds of photos. Special thanks to Miss Faiza, Miss Kombe, and Miss Diana for their support in helping and leading the trip throughout.
