World Book Day Inspires At BISA

14th March 2024

This past Friday, March 8th, our EYFS and Primary classes celebrated a truly magical World Book Day! The day buzzed with excitement as it coincided perfectly with International Women's Day, giving us a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the incredible achievements of female authors and characters.

The hallways were filled with students dressed as their favourite female characters or iconic authors! From J.K Rowling's magical Harry Potter characters to the whimsical world of Matilda, our young readers brought their literary heroes to life, sharing the power of stories and the characters that inspire them.

Our Primary students were treated to a very special guest – the phenomenal Madam Tiana! She captivated the children with her interactive storytelling workshops, weaving tales that sparked imagination and a love for language. These workshops are sure to fuel the creative fires burning within our young writers.

Speaking of sparking imaginations, World Book Day also marked the launch of our highly anticipated Big Write/Big Talk! But what exactly is The Big Write/Big Talk?

The Big Write (Big Talk for EYFS) is a dedicated week where all our students, from our youngest learners to our budding authors in Primary, come together to focus on a single, stimulating theme. This year, inspired by World Book Day, the theme was all about adventures!

The Primary section had a truly unforgettable experience. A giant replica of "The Magic Braeburn School Bus" (think a fantastical mobile classroom!) rolled into the school, overflowing with imaginative prompts and writing inspiration. This unique setting provided the perfect springboard for our students to craft their own thrilling adventure stories throughout the week.

The Big Write/Big Talk offers a multitude of benefits. It fosters a love of writing, encourages creative thinking, and allows students to showcase their storytelling abilities. The collaborative atmosphere motivates and inspires, resulting in some truly fantastic pieces of writing.

Our World Book Day celebration was a resounding success! We revelled in the power of stories, celebrated the achievements of incredible female authors, and ignited a passion for creative writing in our students. We can't wait to see the amazing adventure stories that come out of this week's Big Write!
