World Scholars head to Qatar!

Braeburn International School Arusha will be representing Tanzania in the Global round of the World Scholars Cup in Qatar.

The World Scholars Cup is an academic competition where students work in teams of three to compete in four-team events, namely team debate, scholar’s bowls, scholar's challenge, and collaborative writing.

The subject areas tested in the World Scholars Cup include science and technology, special areas, social studies, history, art and music, and literature and media.

Every year, there is always a theme for students to work around. This year’s theme is reconstructing the past.

This year’s Global round in Qatar, which is just one of five global rounds, will see about 70 different nationalities converge together in Qatar. The winners of each global round will earn a special berch to attend the Tournament of Champions hosted by Yale University in The USA.

Apart from the academic competition, scholars will get a chance to showcase their rich culture in the cultural show and also their talents in the talent show.

As a school, we have reserved a stall in the cultural show, and we plan to showcase Tanzania's rich culture, including our attractions from the national parks to the mountains. This is in line with Her Excellence Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan's vision of promoting Tanzania's national attraction to the world to welcome tourists to our country.

We are confident that our students will represent the nation well and will be able to qualify for the Tournament of Champions in the USA.

I encourage other Tanzanian schools to sign up for this kind of tournament so we can showcase Tanzania to the world. The regional round of the World Scholars Cup is hosted by Braeburn International School Arusha annually.
